Councillors in Bury have given a resounding ‘yes’ for a new development in an area of Green Belt, which will see a dilapidated building transformed into new homes.
The Hamlet in Ainsworth will be developed by Saviour Homes and will turn a redundant public house into 2 three bedroom cottages, 5 two bedroom apartments and 3 one bedroom apartments, all with open aspect views over the adjacent lodge and Green Belt to the rear. The new build section of the proposal will form a further 10 apartments constructed, in the main, from local stone, blending seamlessly into the local street scene.
Lead architect Reid Lewis of The Ratcliffe Groves Partnership said “we’re delighted that the planning committee voted unanimously in favour of the scheme. It’s an example of development in an area of Green Belt, that will enhance and protect it.”
Both local residents and the planning committee members commented on the quality of the proposal and residents are particularly keen to see the derelict site brought back into use.
In addition, the developers are contributing £30,000 towards enhancing the play area at Bradley Fold.
The apartments will be marketed exclusively by Hannon Holmes Limited, Sales & Lettings and are due to be available for reservation from Spring 2016.
