RGP Regional Director, David Matthews, has landed safe and sound after a great couple of weeks flying in the World Hang Gliding Championships in Tolmezzo northern Italy with Team GB.
David flew a total of 9 tasks ranging in distance from 86km to 200km. The latter was the longest competition task set in Europe taking off from northern Italy and flying into the Austrian alps reaching altitudes of nearly 12,000ft! and was David’s best result of the competition coming in 27th in a time of 4 hours 47 mins.
After a couple of weeks of competition, David was placed 34th with team GB coming in 6th place. David said “it turned out to be a very challenging and physically demanding competition but great fun.”
